RE: Reliability?

Greg, I factory ordered a 2008 for the same reasons as you state. I have had and still have all kinds of problems with it. It has been in for warranty work 5 times and I still have issues to resolve. One of the issues a engine oil leak has been worked on 2 times and is still leaking.
If I were to do it again I would look for a used unit that has had all of the bugs worked out. If you do that make sure that you check everything out , take it for a long test drive over different hiway conditions, have a mechanical inspection done, check all systems (furnace, fridge, levelers, awings etc)., look for possible water leaks.

RE: water pump bleed

If you fill your tank through the city water connection make sure you switch back to "Normal" from "Water Fill". The pump will not work if the switch is in the "water Fill" position. I dont know when Winnebago
started using the city water fill connection to fill the water tank.

RE: Allison Check Trans Light - Code U0115

Had the U0115 code on my 08 Itasca Ellipse. The code was solid along with the ABS light and loss of speedometer. Freightliner found 2 unseated pins in 2 of the connectors.

RE: New Jeep Patriot/Compass

Neither the Patriot or Compass can be towed 4 wheels down. They do not have a neutral transfer case position.

2007 400 Cummins ISL

I factory ordered a 2008 Winnebego with a 400 ISL engine. Went to pick it up yesterday and noticed that the Check Engine message was displayed and the Particulate Filter light was illuminated. The unit has only 1800 miles on it (transportation from Winnebego to the dealer). The dealership told me that they would have to contact Cummins to resolve the problem. Has anyone else experienced this ?

RE: Diesel fuel - LSD or ULSD??

Engines designed for ULSD have catalytic converters similar to automobiles. I am told that the replacement cost for a catalytic converter may approach $10,000 due to the precious metals used in them.
If you use LSD it will eventually plug up the convertor and restict the exhast flow (not a good thing).

RE: Alaska Trip

Made the trip in 2005 with 2 other rigs. It was one of the best relaxing trips I ever made. Take your time and you will still miss much. Plan to make the trip again this year.

RE: Motorhome Damage due to Extended Stays

Keep the motorhome. I sold my motorhome in 2003 and bought a Montana fifth wheel and a Chevy Duramax diesel to pull it. I love the truck but hated the fifth wheel. Sold the fifth wheel and now have a Itaska Ellipse on order to be delivered in earl April. I lost a lot of $$ going to the fifth wheel and back to the motorhome experience.
